Maple River crushes NRHEG 40-7

The Panthers’ up and down season continued with a loss on Friday, Oct. 4 to Maple River 40-7.
NRHEG held a close 7-6 lead over Maple River in the first quarter, but after that it was all Maple River for the rest of the game. Maple River held the Panthers scoreless through the final three quarters and racked up 34 more points.
Offensively, there wasn’t much happening on the field for NRHEG. Quarterback Blake Ihrke completed 8 of 22 passes for only 36 yards. He also threw four interceptions in the game.
The rushing attack was also held at bay. Nick Staloch had 32 yards in seven carries and Ihrke had 25 yards in 12 carries.
Lonnie Wilson and Kordell Schlaak led NRHEG’s receiving with 15 yards each.
The loss dropped NRHEG’s record to 2-4 on the season. The Panthers host Lake Crystal-Welcome Memorial Friday night. NRHEG closes out the regular season next Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop.
