One happy breakfast diner at the Blooming Prairie Veterans Memorial Breakfast on Sunday, Sept. 29 was MiKenna Boehnke, 7. All proceeds from Sunday's breakfast go to maintaining the memorial.

Tasty support for Vets Memorial

Thanks to some caring and patriotic individuals, many exciting things are happening at the site of the Blooming Prairie Veterans Memorial, says Tom Peterson, chairman of the Veterans Memorial Committee.

Some of that generosity and patriotism was demonstrated on Sunday, Sept. 29 at a fundraising breakfast hosted by the Blooming Prairie Servicemen's Club.

The breakfast was served from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. A freewill offering was asked. The menu featured pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs, sausages, orange juice, milk and coffee.

A silent auction was also held, with theme baskets and food items for sale.

Marilyn Meshke and Sandy Jones chaired the breakfast.

All proceeds from the breakfast will be channeled to the BP Veterans Memorial.

In other Veterans Memorial news, the Blooming Prairie Veterans Memorial Committee has placed an order for a beautiful, black granite for Walls IV, V and VI.

Each wall will have 96 pavers surrounding a 4 x 5 foot mural depicting veterans in the Vietnam War, the Korean War and World War II. The granite will be shipped here in the spring of 2020.

There is still plenty of room on the Memorial for additional wall pavers. If anyone would like to reserve a wall paver for a veteran, feel free to contact Peterson at 507-456-2017 to get the process started.
