BREAKING NEWS: Sheriff’s Office investigating shooting in Geneva

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that took place early Saturday in Geneva.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were dispatched to the Geneva Bar and Grill at 12:50 a.m. on Saturday on a report of shots fired at a vehicle. When deputies arrived on scene, they saw several people running to their vehicles and leaving the parking lot. Deputies learned a fight had broken out inside the bar between 10 people. The fight moved outside to the parking lot when one of the males involved went to a vehicle and grabbed a handgun and fired two rounds into the air.
Nobody was injured from the shots, and the man left on foot after firing the gun.
Just after the incident at the bar, one of the vehicles that left the bar stopped at an intersection to let a man cross the road. Once the man crossed the road and the truck continued, the man started to shoot at the truck. The driver told authorities he heard four shots and heard bullets hitting his truck.
The sheriff’s office said no one was injured in the second shooting.
Sgt. Tim Bennett said this is an active investigation and no arrests have been made at this time. “This is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community,” he said.
Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 507-377-5000, option 5.
